The Living Lab Carpet is a VLAIO-funded project that will explore and map the circular challenges within the carpet industry over a three-year period (2023–2025).https://www.vlaio.be/en

The Living Lab aims to improve the circularity of carpets and avoid their incineration or landfill disposal, potentially reducing environmental impact by 40% and material consumption by 60%.
The project mainly focuses on the reuse, repair, and refurbishing of end-of-life (EoL) and unsold carpets, while promoting eco-design to facilitate these processes. This includes developing a logistics and value chain, suitable business models, demonstrators, training programs, and stakeholder awareness.
LLCARPET represents a first step toward Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) and standard development, with potential applicability in other regions and sectors.

Living Lab Carpet is a collaboration between various stakeholders across the broader carpet industry: Balta, Belysse, Centexbel, Cobot, Designregio Kortrijk, Fedustria, Material Mastery, and Weerwerk.
Within our lab, we focus on three major challenges: technological, logistical, and economic. Click on the bars below the diagram to explore them all.
